@ll_exile_ll: I have being a subscriber for 5 years and i am really thinking about retracing it. I feel there at a super safe zone like somebody doing the same job for 30 years and just doing the same stuff over and over again cause it "easy" to do so instead of innovating. In the Whiskey media days they went for it a 100% cause they needed those subscribers. Now there in a safe zone when it comes to money and there going at it 30 % because they got lucky with new subs. I know it's a shitty thing to tell somebody to do a better job but these people are really talented and i don't want to see there potential being wasted at Lazy let's play videos. Going through there premium content of this year and the only thing worth watching are FMV vinny let's plays and Demo Derby, UPF these days feels like a slog like they need to be there.
You've got some rose tinted glasses on there because GBEasts content is every bit as creative and effortful as stuff Whiskey Media Gbomb was doing. I mean they just did a show where they made disgusting playdough food in an easy bake oven while playing cooking games. That is not just "easy lazy let's play" videos. For extra life they made a video game, did hilarious magic tricks and played a mafia type game on top of playing a bunch of games. They've started doing some great series with wonderfully edited intros like EX Corps and Six Crazy Frights. They are trying hard and coming up with new ideas all the time. GBEast adds entertaining twists to everything that you'll never find on twitch/youtube which is just some dude/lady sitting in their bedroom playing a video game. You can say you don't like GBEasts zanny content, that's fine, that's your preference, but to call it "easy" "safe zone" "going at it 30%" and "lazy let's play videos" is just completely exaggerated fictitious slander. GBEast works damn hard to entertain us.
As for being stuck in the past, the only major difference in terms of content variety/effort is everything is more video game focused these days compared to Whiskey Media, but that's not really a fair comparison because well CBSi brought them as a video game site and all the tested/comicvine/etc stuff is gone. That's just how it is now, it's a video game site, take it or leave it. Oh and the fact that GBEast is more limited in some ways by their tiny studio, which is a bummer but not their fault in terms of "effort".
Now... I will agree somewhat when it comes to GBWest this past year though... it's been pretty dead over there in terms of new content ideas and energy and it does kind of feel like they've been going through the motions for a long time. But GBEast is killin it and well worth the subscription alone for many of us who have been following gbomb from the beginning too. Hopefully GBWest will pick up this year with an extra producer on board, though I'm not getting my hopes up too high.
Anyways, as to OP. I do miss skits but overall I think stuff like Hitmas and VR GORN Vinny makes up for it. Though I hope maybe next year theres a balance. Maybe just 1 longish edited skit or two with everyone, and then the regular content they've doing on top of that. Best of both worlds would be nice.
