I would have to say soldier  for right now, he has a lot or great stuff with his skills when you start leveling him up. I'm also playing as berserker  to which he is fun to play as. 
 
p.s by an accident i put my vote for berserker , but it was meant to be soldier.

i think the 2nd play through explains more of it at the end.
