Also worth mentioning in the discussion is that Owens is the lead singer now for KK's Priest, KK Downings new group after leaving Judas Priest on apparently not great terms.
As a Michigander I can add some context to the random "Lafayettes is the best" comment:
In downtown Detroit there are 2 Coney Islands directly next to each other (they literally share a wall) called Americas Coney Island and Lafayettes Coney Island. They are (or at least were) owned by the same family and were opened around 100 years ago. Back in the day 2 brothers each opened their own Coney Island and it was basically brother vs brother for who could make the best Coney Island.
I've heard plenty of stories of people having staunch loyalty to one or the other and even to this day its still fun to hear people bring that up. Hilarious to think their sibling rivalry between the 2 brothers is still around in some form over 100 years later.
I'm weirdly into the idea of this game, but I really don't know if i'll end up playing it. However (as I dig out my old Metal Gear foil hat), it already seems to be lacking that Kojima attention to detail. If I remember correctly, this Mother Base is supposed to be the one that was collapsing at the end of Ground Zeroes. If that's the case, the Diamond Dogs weren't a thing yet, the logo on Mother Base should be an MSF logo instead.
