I'm finding the exact opposite. As time goes on I have less and less interest in this revolving door of forgettable 8 hour story driven experiences at $60 a pop. I bought a PS3 not even 2 weeks ago and I'm already starting to regret my decision--believe it or not I've lost interest 75% of the way through Uncharted 2, though I will finish it seeing as I paid for it. To me at least, games are about gameplay, not attachment to characters or plot--that's what books and movies are for (for me at least). I gain much more satisfaction by constantly challenging myself to improve and outsmart another player.
Yeah, I must say the shoe does feel good on the other foot :D Can't wait for the show, been following the web series since there were only 3 episodes, and attended 2 of the episode premiers.
To quote Jarett Cale, I know nothing of the command and conquer story line, but I assume the bald dude is "bad". For basically any multiplayer focused game (RTS and FPS in particular) I have little interest in diving into a single player campaign that may very well be an afterthought--there only because a game "ought" to have a single player component. Similarly, I don't imagine the entire nation of South Korea is awaiting Starcraft II with baited breath to see the thrilling conclusion to the story arc. Personally, I don't intend to so much as touch the campaign until close to the launch of the first expansion. Oh, and I have no idea what this Cpt Price fellow did in CoD4's campaign, I lost interest after the first mission, which I didn't play until around the time MW2 came out :D
Personally, I'd take a solid multiplayer game over single player anyday. Even the finest single player games I've ever played will be lucky to net 50-100 hours of play time, whereas the better multiplayer games (Starcraft, Quake, Counter Strike, and particularly for me Warcraft III and Age of Empires II) can easily stay interesting for thousands of hours.
