The Games I Played 2010

This is the log of games that I played and or beat in 2010.  This will hopefully help me reflect on my experiences in the future.

List items

  • I beat this game in the first week of 2010. For whatever reason I didn't have time to play this game when it came out. Partially because I'm a dad and partially because it was a Batman game. Man was I wrong about this game. When the demo came out I thought it was easy and basic, but when I started playing the retail version I quickly realized how great it was. It had an interesting story in a fantastic setting. Great game mechanics with a decent upgrading system. I really enjoyed the way each level had the feel of the boss that it was leading you to. The Scarecrow levels were magnificently timed and a fantastic change of pace.

This was one of the best games I have played this generation and a top tier video game.

  • I reached level 70. I am not a big fan of this type of shooter (I'm more of a Battlefield guy) but is was nice to reach max rank. I have no intentions of going prestige since the only reason I'm playing is because of our tournament.

  • I have played through two of the origin stories (Mage and Dalish Elf). I am finding that I don't like this game as much as everyone else. The port to the PS3 is mediocre and the visuals suffer because of it. The story is right off the pages of LOTR. Although the character interactions are interesting it does feel like a choose your own adventure book. The type I read when I was 9.

  • Finally downloaded this from steam after the $5 sale they had over the holiday break. Questing and leveling at it's finest. The more I play the more I like. I almost wish I would have been playing this over Borderlands since they are so similar. I am still in the first cave and I have only completed one quest, but I did turn my dog into a big crab thing. That was nice.

  • One of the worst openings in video games ever. Desmond is the weakest most annoying gaming character I have played as in a long time. The way he talks and animates in the beginning don't exactly match up and it's quite annoying. The guards pay me no mind when we come across them first and then there's a half dozen of them and I can all the sudden kick some ass.

Once I got into the animus that all changed. Ezio is a dude and if anyone is above that law it's him. I really like the voice acting so far and a little thing that has gone a long way for me is the eye movement of the characters. Not since Half-Life 2 have I seen eyes in a video game say so much.

  • I have been in a best of 7 series with one of my friends on the PSN. He has a 2-1 lead in the series. There has been two shuouts, the home team has won every game, and a walk homer so far. This is probably the best sports game I have ever played. The realism is uncanny and the unique nature of baseball is captured in almost every aspect of this game. The online is a little janky and sometimes players don't make plays because they are stuck in an animation, but this happens occasionally and isn't necessarily the rule.

I love how through three games that every time has been a different unique experience.
