The person who does the Best of is no longer TurboMan/Derek Stone. His last Best of was The Best of Vinny, Brad and Alex after they left. Without any speculation on Jeff's situation, I would simply assume the current Best of guy didn't know this was a tradition.

I've barely used the site anymore, I tune into Arcade Pit now and then but outside that just nothing really interest me anymore in terms of new content, and no shade to the new guy, but ever since Derek stopped doing Best Of, I don't even find those as good anymore. I still hop on and watch old Demo Derby, Game Tapes, etc.

While I think the lack of in-person content hurts the content quality, it's only a part of the problem. Nextlander is effectively doing the same thing of Zoom Call Content, but manages to make it fun to watch (If you haven't checked out NXL's content recently, I can't recommend Patron's Choice May 2022: V.H.S.O.S enough, it's one of the best piece of content those guys have ever done, not just at NXL but GB/GS as well.) I honestly don't know what I want out of GB anymore, I think Jess is a great addition to the crew, but at the end of the day the content they're making still isn't of interest to me.

Giant Bomb will always have a special place in my heart, it's the reason I know so many people I can easily call my friends and for better or worse shaped me as a person.

Genuinely for me it's content by the team, I know there isn't a ton of people left at GB to be making loads of content, but for me the Golden Age of GB was around 2014-2017~. While I loved Ryan and Patrick, and that era will always remain special, they were more a website about video games as in they actually focused on reviews and editorial work.

Once Dan and Jason joined, it felt like a whole new era began that was truly special, yes they were still playing video games but it was always a fun spin on things. Features like Project BEAST, Demo Derby, Game Tapes, Steal My Sunshine, Mario Party Party, etc. It was us getting to watch people we really enjoyed watching just have fun(and not fun) together.

I have nothing against the Two Mins crew, but I personally have ZERO interest in their content cause it's missing anything that I look for in GB content, either it's about video games or it's not but it involves the crew that I like talking about something else. If I'm being completely honestly Void Burger's video has been the only piece of content I've enjoyed so far, it's about video game adjacent and it's being positive about it's subject, where as Albummer is negative for the most part (even if they have positive things to say, the whole point of the show is still that the album is bad.)

What I want out of GB is kinda gone and no one's really providing it anymore, not even NXL (Don't get me wrong I love what they're doing and I proudly supported them) but no one really can 'til the world has a new normal and we can get people back into Studios to make that content again. I loved Jeff and Brad's knowledge and their perspective on the world of games in those specific eras, that's why Game Tapes and Demo Derby were my favorite features. They did one post-lockdown Game Tapes, so I don't see why they haven't done more of it. Besides of Bombcast and Relaxed Friday, the main crew have barely done anything features wise since the NXL crew left.

I don't have a problem with features not focused on games, but I wanna hear it from the people I already know I like. If I DO end up liking stuff that Two Mins or Void Burger does, beside these one off features I'm not going to get more of their content from GB, I'm gonna end up following their YouTubes instead.
