Having to set the game to easy just to beat the game in time for review seems to go against the spirit of Xcom. It just doesn't seem like a Dan kind of game, I know he really only got serious about pc gaming a little over a year ago. Xcom is a kind of game where its standard to start over several times to learn all the mechanics.

As for the performance issues, lowering your AA to FXAA and turning depth of field off seems to help a lot.

Idk if i would say "not his kind of game" when he seems to have loved playing it. Imo if there is an easy mode in the game, it is ok to play it that way. If the developers didn't want you to it wouldn't be there.

I dunno, I feel often difficult settings for games like these are the result of publishers demands rather than the devs.

I agree that sometimes is the case, but i think sometimes a dev wants the game to be more accessible to more people (obviously here they do it without dumbing it down).

@proc: I have the reverse issue you have. Those 3 you listed just sound like new electronic jambles that i've heard a million times in the past 5 years.

Muse is for emo teenagers. Their first two albums are just as mediocre as their others.

What a disappointing bombcast segment (re: witcher). I liked MGS5 as well, but in no way was it introducing new gameplay mechanics through its entirerity. Obviously if you stop playing a huge story rpg halfway (or not even half) through it'd be near impossible to break back into it, but that's not the fault of the game.

It seems the only hope left for someone to finish it is Austin, since I guess Vinny is still stuck reading books?

Hey man there is still hope for GOTY. Austin seems like the kind of guy who is a stickler for his opinion. Vinny may slug off, but we will see.
