A very good game set in my favorite fictional universe ever. I probably spent more time reading the codex in this game than playing half of the games on this list. Not enough Wrex though.

The combat in this game feels perfect to me and I'm kind of feeling the crazy ass story.

Best graphics of the year. Best sound design of the year. And I think the way that it presents its narrative (with no words or direct explanations) is more effective than any other game this year. Oh, and the puzzles are fucking perfect.

I own 100% of Rome. Multiplayer is fun too.

The best ending of a game ever. Also, John Marston is a pretty great character.

There should be more games where killing another human being isn't a trivial action and is given proper emotional weight.

God of War III and Just Cause 2 are real close, but, when I had to chose for the 10 slot I thought about my favorite moment from any of those games and about 10 Alan Wake moments (from the rock concert to lighting up words to make objects appear) came to mind before anything in either of those games.
