A Smoking Hot Sadist 0

Many months ago I witnessed my first trailer for the game Catherine. I found myself entranced by its Persona art style and interested in the mature anime aura it exuded. I had grown quite fatigued by JRPGS and felt that Japanese developed games were feeling stagnate and dated with no innovation to be found. The more I learned about the Catherine the more I wanted it — even though I knew going in that it was a challenging puzzle game with dating sim aspects. I have never found dating sims t...

Grind house meets gaming 0

I have been having a rough time when it comes to the video games I have played this month. After the walking abortion that was Duke Nukem Forever, the unexpected tediousness found in Alice and the dull, unsatisfying Transformers: Dark of the Moon I was about to right this entire month off. Then without warning, Shadows of the Damned walks into the room, standing erect and exploding with charm. Suda 51, the creator of No More Heroes and Killer 7, does a great job of entertaining us with Shadows ...

Eden never looked so wonderfull 0

In 2002 a man named Tetsuya Mizuguchi introduced the United States to a game known as Rez. It was a game so unique that the game was bundled in japan with a device known as a trance vibrator, which was intended to be placed in one pocket or sat on but was occasionally used for more erotic methods of play. I didn’t experience Rez until it was released for Xbox Live Arcade and when I finally played it I realized I was playing greatness. Child of Eden is the spiritual successor to Rez but offers ...

Let the Madness Begin 0

Alice Madness Returns is the continued dark take on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. American McGee continues a story of an insane teenager who is plagued by her corrupted memories, induced by a fire that destroyed her life. Alice Madness Returns displays a wonderfully twisted world that both entices and dissuades gamers at the same time. Alice does this by allowing you to explore a delightfully disturbing world while at the same time forces you to explore a disturbingly repetitive world...

I wish I was back on Cybertron 0

When Transformers: War for Cybertron came out last year, I was impressed by how well it was made. It wasn’t a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination but it was a game that truly embraced the universe it was based on. The overall gameplay was fun, if a bit repetitive and the world looked great – if a bit repetitive. The game also had a pretty good multiplayer system, both competitive and cooperative. When I saw that High Moon Studios was making Transformers: Dark of the Moon, I thought th...

There is a flaw hidden within the Masterpiece. 0

Da Vinci’s Disappearance is the first DLC for Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. The single player portion of the DLC takes place in 1506, a year before the final confrontation with Cesare Borgia. The Hermeticists, a cult whose ultimate goal is transforming mankind, kidnap Leonardo Da Vinci in order to uncover a secret that would secure the cults status with more power. Ezio attempts to find Da Vinci by tracking down the masters works of art, which supposedly have clues to his secret. The story is ...

Great execution but doesn't stick the landing. 0

Crysis 2 is fast action, first person shooter with large history of games that push video game presentation behind it. However, unlike the previous games (Crysis and Far Cry 2), Crytek decides to sacrifice open world game play for more focused and enjoyable experience.   Crysis 2 takes place in New York city and in the year 2023. You play as Alcatraz, a man that is rescued by Prophet, one of the main characters of the original Crysis game. The main factions of New York are the paramilitary...

Message to all Survival horror games: Dead Space 2 is the bar. 0

Dead Space 2 is the action horror sequel to one of the most impressive games to come out this console generation. The original was unfortunately a mediocre success to an unbelievably packed fall in 2008.   The original was known for taking great gaming ideas, polishing them and then release them with a new paint job. Dead Space 2 actually manages to improve on every aspect of the original and adds some of the most tense and unnerving set pieces in recent memory.   Dead Space 2 take place 3 yea...

Lucas Arts <3 Clones 0

The original Star Wars the Force Unleashed was a series of technical problems and was incredibly short but was able to deliver an overall enjoyable experience. When I first saw the trailer for the sequel I couldn’t believe that it was the same character and that it was coming soon. After beating the game in roughly six hours, I have to say that as much as I loved Star killer before I wish he had simply stayed dead. The Force Unleashed 2 has a few moments of good but ultimately feels like a c...

Medal of Honor : A reboot that needs a reboot. 0

Medal of Honor was one of the most anticipated games this year and up until this point was promising but little did I know that when I put the disc in that I was about to enter a afternoon of mediocrity. The campaign takes place in modern day Afghanistan and has you play a couple of roles. You play as three different characters that are in different tiers of the military. This really isn’t to important considering they all play the same and each weapon in the game feels identically to any oth...
