The path to the 100th post

First of all, an apology: my native language is not English and mistakes are inevitable. We're not free of them on our native languages, what to say of a second one? I sincerely apologize for any and corrections are appreciated.

In order to celebrate my 100th post on the Giantbomb forums, I figured I'd make it a blog post. But what to write, I wondered, as I have never been an avid follower of the forums and its fanbase. And then it struck me: that's exactly what I'm writing about, please who it may.

I have been on Giantbomb since day one. I avidly followed Gamespot during its better days, feeding myself off of reviews and whatever else from Jeff, Ryan, Brad, Greg, Alex and others. After that incident with Kane and Lynch, that seems like a thousand years ago (seriously, people, let it go), I followed them, one by one, to their personal blogs.

And it was with great excitment that I received the news, through Ryan's blog, that they were making a bomb. I jumped in on day one and what a bomb it was.

Since then, I have followed the news and the most wonderful original stuff these guys release with a passion. I check the site with fervor, reading up everything even slightly related to the games I actually enjoy.

I have never, however, embarked upon the forums and the wikis. I have been, as you may call, a lurker, lurking around without calling attention to myself. I didn't adventure myself on the forums, which is clear from my low post count.

This is a trait of mine, not to get too involved in forums. I never used the ones on Gamespot either, and that habit carried on. Until, one day, I decided to check on it (probably a slow news day).

And it got my attention. Now I check them often, added some to my favorites and, even though I don't reply all that much (I'd rather have something substantial to say), I read them. And what got my attention was how different these forums feel, be by their design or their community. Yes, trolls abound around here, as all over the internets, but the community is always quick to run them down. Here I can find, amidst the eventual garbage, truly exciting readings in the form of pretty much everything.

Such amazement may seem strange to most, who are well inserted into this universe, but I'm the kind of guy who refuses to set up a facebook or make an account on twitter. Who knows, maybe I'll be writing reviews and editing wikis.

Thank you to everyone who makes this a decent and worthy community, filled with interesting things to read, do and even think about. Never thought I'd say that about a gaming site.

First attempt at blogging

New gaming site, new people, new ideas, right? I've been a member of GS for some time now, but I never really got into blogging back there, and the mood I didn't have went away with the recent months. So, breathing fresh air in this new and amazing website, I feel like trying it.

I'm going to make this short, as I have still a lot of things to read and admire around this GIANT bomb, before it gets bigger and explodes on my face. Congratulation to these fantastic four that came up with such an user-friendly website, putting games first. Incredible design, amazing ideas, and certainly a community that will make it worth your time and effort.

Cheers!
