Back in April, there was a huge fuss over an internal report by the Department of Homeland Security warning that current conditions resemble those in the early 1990s — a time marked by an upsurge of right-wing extremism that culminated in the Oklahoma City bombing.
Conservatives were outraged. The chairman of the Republican National Committee denounced the report as an attempt to “segment out conservatives in this country who have a different philosophy or view from this administration” and label them as terrorists.
But with the murder of Dr. George Tiller by an anti-abortion fanatic, closely followed by a shooting by a white supremacist at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the analysis looks prescient.
There is, however, one important thing that the D.H.S. report didn’t say: Today, as in the early years of the Clinton administration but to an even greater extent, right-wing extremism is being systematically fed by the conservative media and political establishment.
Now, for the most part, the likes of Fox News and the R.N.C. haven’t directly incited violence, despite Bill O’Reilly’s declarations that “some” called Dr. Tiller “Tiller the Baby Killer,” that he had “blood on his hands,” and that he was a “guy operating a death mill.” But they have gone out of their way to provide a platform for conspiracy theories and apocalyptic rhetoric, just as they did the last time a Democrat held the White House.
And at this point, whatever dividing line there was between mainstream conservatism and the black-helicopter crowd seems to have been virtually erased.

This was the point i was making all along, but I dont think this source will change anyones mind, since they seem pretty happy with the views they already have.

" i added Letterman's apology from his show last night. This one, I hope, will end this. He truly seemed sorry last night.
"
Palin finally accepted the apology as well. This whole thing was like O'Donnell vs Trump.
" @Snipzor: not at all what he said. let ME sum it up"i'm sorry, i made a mistake" "
Not necessarily, he did apologize, but he made it clear that it was their perception of the joke that brought us here. He said "Sorry, but you didn't get the joke, not my fault you got "outraged"".
An apology is different from a remark that people are at fault for not getting the joke. He was quite implicit and clever about it. But in the end, we all know the joke the Palin's were really outraged about was the slutty outfit joke. There's no hiding it, and we all knew it.
@BODDAH: Uhhhhh...no. Anyone ANYONE who believes in creationism gets a big FUCK YOU from me. If you're really stupid enough to believe th world is 10,000 years old you deserve a fuck you.
ANYONE who believes in creationism gets a big FUCK YOU
And I suppose that the more than 40% of America that is conservative would reciprocate that "fuck you", as compared to the 21% of America that is liberal.
Honestly, no need to be hostile towards an opposing ideology. It's a bit juvenile.
" Apparently because I say "Fuck sarah palin", I'm liberal.HEHEHE TOO BAD I AM TOO YOUNG TO VOTE AND I LIVE IN CANADA AND I WAS BROUGHT UP IN A CONSERVATIVE PROVINCE HEHEHEHEHE RIGHT GUYS? "

" Does Canada also have a two-party system? One conservative, one liberal (and a few insignificant candidates)? "
No. We have the Conservatives, Liberals, NDP (New Democratic Party which is Socialism), and the Bloc Quebecois (French Canadian separatists). It's always fought between all of them, and NDP takes 18% of the vote and Quebecois takes 40% of the vote in Quebec.
She seems to think that being close to Russia improves her foreign relation skills
She is an obvious republican party tool (Doesnt know what to say when asked what publications she reads, even though she answered the same question before getting the nomination?)
Supported the idea that her opponent was a terrorist (thankfully McCain and Obama were both respectful enough to accuse no such thing of eachother)
Supported the bridge to nowhere, then lied about it (this is a small complaint since pretty much every politician lies about their record)
She was under invesigation for abuse of power. IN ALASKA! (what ever happened with that?)
She had been governer of the state for what, two years? The least populated state in the country?
Has broken her own state law in hunting from helicopters (and spent over $400,000 in state money fighting the ban on the practice)
Forced her own daughter to take back her opinion on abstinence-only
And then beyond those non-partisan reasons, there are a ton of reasons why Democrats would dislike her
Anti-choice
anti-environment
very religous and allows that to affect her policy
husband works for British Petroleum (not suprising she's for big oil)

" @AndrewGaspar: some people yes...but going off topic here; glenn beck is the host of a news program on a major news network and shoudln't be making jokes of any kind. leave that to jon stewart and stephen colbert "
He's not a comedian, but he's still managed to piss lots of people off. He doesn't piss me off, whenever I do watch the show I'm just sitting there like what?
They both win. Letterman has posted some of the best rating because of this incident. Similarly, Palin stays in the spotlight for another week, remaining somewhat relevant to the average American viewer.
