Collectibles with no reward.
If there are 500 feathers / flags / stars / whatever to collect, I'll feel compelled to collect them. If I get nothing but an achievement for collecting them, I will not blame my OCD. I will blame the lazy developers.

Ever since Giant Bomb started I've had little need to visit a popular game review site that I used to visit quite often. No, not the one that takes 5 minutes to load unless AdBlock is on, the other one. The one that runs full page ads that have "absolutely no bearing on review scores".
I just ran into a problem though. I was trolling around XBLM looking for a cheap game to download and saw that both Saint's Row and Crackdown are going for 20 bucks, so I looked up reviews for them to help me decide which i should buy. It really sucks that I have to give my clicks to a website that I consider the Fox News of game sites if I want to read Gerstmann's Crackdown review.
I don't know if this topic has been addressed before, but why couldn't the Giant Bomb staff just bring their reviews over?
I understand not being able to post video reviews from other sites and you would have to change up the format of the written review, but at the end of the day it's really just your opinion. I don't see any legal reason that you wouldn't be able to share your opinion on two different websites.
If the writers had to sign something when they left saying they wouldn't re-print anything they wrote for the site then I'll do it. I'll paste the original review in the Giant Bomb wiki, change it up a little so it's not "re-printing", and cite the source. Would it still be considered copyright infringement (or whatever legal category stuff like this falls under)?
If it would, that's bullshit.

Yeah, you're right. I might have made it sound a little more inflammatory than it really was ( dramatic license I guess ) but I still think he's a pedantic ass. Hopefully I would have used a little tact if i could have brought it up during the conversation.

This weekend my girlfriend and I met her mom and step-dad for dinner. I was spending all day blasting through the God of War Collection before starting GoW3 and when we had to leave I wasn't near a save point so I just paused it and left the PS3 on.
When we got to the restaurant they asked what we've been doing all day, "Just playing video games" I said.
My girlfriend is generally OK with my gaming but she likes to poke fun at me every now and then so she said, "That's ALL he's been doing today, it's on pause right now."
Then her dickhead step-dad had to interject, "You can't even turn it off to go to dinner? WOW! I think maybe you have a problem" with a stupid little smirk on his face. He likes to think he's more mature than me because I don't wear a suit to work and I play games. Even though I'm college educated and he's been selling State Farm insurance for god knows how long.
Well fuck you! I thought. All he had to say about his day was "not much" and that's OK, it's the fucking weekend. So I sat there thinking about what a typical, stupid comment that was and a good analogy came to me; What if I were reading a book and had to leave before finishing the chapter? I would have put a bookmark in the book and finished the chapter when I got home. That would have been OK though because it's a book, and books make you smart right?
I brought this analogy to his attention but by then the conversation had moved to jewelry or what ever the fuck so of course nobody tried to give a good counter-point, I just got the "You're still stuck on this? Calm down" bullshit.
If it had just come to me 2 minutes sooner I would have (maybe) enlightened him and changed his banal opinion about video games. I hate it when that happens.
