Fallout 3 curse!

I've been hooked on achievements for quite a while now but I had never been particularly interested on S-ranking games until recently. Now I've completed about 5 games with an S-rank and thought I might do the same with ... But god damn it! The problem is, even though by now I'm only playing it for the achievements (I loved the story but after the main game and 3 DLCs it's getting a little tedious) I can't help but to detour to get all the unique weapons and special misc., extending my considerably. The worse part is, I don't even use most of the special weapons! I just get them and then store them at my house in Megaton. I acquired my favorite guns about 3/4 into the game and have been using those ever since with little to no variation. I mean, has anyone made considerable use of the Alien Blaster with its super limited ammo? I can't wait to finish this awesome but tormenting game and leave the nightmare behind. Anyone else has this problem?

I am 5 or 6 achievements away from S-rank and am starting up a neutral character to get the rest of the achievements. The only ones that elude me are the neutral achievements, the ingots in The Pitt, the alien captive recordings in Mothership Zeta, hacking 50 terminals, and one other one I'm forgetting.

I never got too far into the game playing it on my 360.  Maybe 6 to 8 hours way back when it first dropped.  I'm not even sure I got any achievements other than the basics (first steps, etc), but recently I picked it up for the PC and have racked up 3 to 4 times that amount of time on the game.  I really love it but since it's a boxed copy (had a gift card) and I never bothered to declare it to Steam, there are no achievements that I've run across yet.  There is probably some Games for Windows thing in there, but I don't log into that, either.  I'm not really interested in those things.  But, collecting stuff is something I do have a problem with in games, so I can relate to that part of what you are saying.  I find I try and get ever piece of clothing and armor in the game, then store them in a private shack.  Like you, I stick with a small number of weapons that feel comfortable and wear pretty much the same thing all the time.  I do the same thing in DA:O and Oblivion.  I admit, I like to play dress up from time to time and go out for a romp in something different, but for real work, it's the same tried-and-true gear all the time.

@Baljot187: Yeah, the collectibles are a b%tch. I recently acquired the Alien recording ones and its not difficult but its tedious as hell. Since my character had high science skill it wasn't hard to  get the 50 terminal one. For the neutral achievements I used a good character and then when I got to level prior to the one for the achievement I just went human hunting in megaton to lower it to neutral and then killed monsters till i leveled up and then load and repeat for evil then load to stay in good. But yeah, being in neutral is pretty useless. The ingots, which I haven't tackled yet, are my biggest fear after the ground during a fall.

I need to level up a neutral, hack some pc's and get a couple of bobbleheads for the s-rank. But I'm so sick of the game, and thus can't do it.
