I cannot unsee it now that maybe that looping animation of a guy trying to push up the couch is someone in the development team expressing the cycle of making CoD games.
Also, is it just me, or does this game look kinda bad the minute Jeff stepped out into the open from the apartments?
Wait, I don't get the sour expressions when Ben suggested the Safdie Brothers directing a GTA movie. Was that like "that's a bad idea" or was it like "that's too raw"? They're really good at their craft.
Here's the deal: only a few nu-metal bands back then were actual good, and if they were, they were way ahead of there time (ala Linkin Park, Korn, SoaD, etc.). New rock and experimental bands now are going back to that sound, directing it, and utilizing the best attributes with other ingredients to really push that sound ahead to something very rad. Check Code Orange and Poppy for good examples.
Honestly, this is pretty impressive for a first game from a small-time commercial studio. Also, as a Vietnamese person, I am very happy that this is a joint project (art-wise) with the Vietnamese studio Sparx (they've worked on quite a few things, including quite a few Marvel films).
Let this be the nail in the coffin to all those who keep brining up that RV is ruining GB. Things change, people move (or move on), and life goes on. WELCOME TO THE NEW WORLD SUCKAS.
With all of the other shows that have been dropping which I felt look warm (or even absolutely repelled by), Hot Takeouts is actually great. Reminds me of Polygon essay videos, but it fits with GB content. This, Grubsnax, and any of Danny's stuff have been good so far.
