I'm currently playing Pokemon Sun. It's a bright, fun game, with amusing characters and very cool Pokemon. It manages to hit all my nostalgia, whilst still adding new ideas and game-play mechanics.

I've only played it at a friend's house and the game killed me. I'm sure with time and practise I could get used to it, though. I feel like it's one of those games where the difficultly is a part of the story, so I wouldn't want an easy mode added, but that's just me.

This game is pretty adorable, but the micro-purchasing is the worst.

I was sadly unsurprised by the backlash against Dorian. There was always going to be backlash. But it's stupid and propelled by simple bigotry.

I love the fact that Dorian's gay, I love the fact that it was promoted, i.e advertized as a reason to go get the game (it would not have increased sales 10 years ago), I love that the fact he's gay wasn't just brushed off and they actually addressed it, I love him and his gorgeous moustache.

Forced? Heavy-handed? This is Bioware we're taking about, they've always had queer characters. You'd think by 2014 we'd have stopped asking these kinds of questions.

I've always thought Bioware does this best. Hell, I cannot explain to you the overwhelming feeling of delight after finding out Zevran was bisexual. Not only through Dragon Age, but Mass Effect and Knights of the Old Republic. For me they've been no. #1 in queer representation for years.

Dorian and Krem from Dragon Age Inquisition are the best examples of this. I've often seen the argument that queer characters should just be queer in the background, without actually having it play into their story. But Dorian's side-story was amazing and heart wrenching. I honestly could hardly believe they actually went that far with it, I thought they would chicken out and make it "he's gay but it doesn't affect him in any meaningful way," but they didn't and I'm proud.

But even Bioware gets it wrong. A lot of wlw were not particularly fond of the lesbian character Sera, and there is of course Serendipity, a cross-dressing minor character in DA2 who was clearly only there for laughs.

In most other games, I almost dread coming across queer characters, because it is so often done wrong.

Yes, but I don't think I still will be in 5 or 10 years time. I'm not attached to the idea of having games as physical copies, I don't like that they can break, get scratched etc. even though I take quite good care of the discs, it would be convenient to have that risk eliminated. Half the games I own now are digital copies.

When I was playing Mario Kart and Mortal Kombat as a kid, then Call of Duty and all those other mediocre shoot-em-up style games as a young teen, multiplayer was the ONLY reason I played video games. I thought multiplayer was the entire point, and I thought those games were as truly good as games could get.

In late high school, I discovered Elder Scrolls Oblivion and played it obsessively for about a year. Then Skyrim. Then I discovered indie games a thing, and my mind was blown wide open with the idea that games could actually tell a compelling narrative. I've gone single player and never shall I look back.
