I got burnt our on the GTA series, but I'm really looking forward to LA Noire. But I would keep an eye out on Amazon, they might have some crazy deal and drop the game by $10 for a weekend.
Actually, Kinect has multiple microphones and they use that to cancel out background noise. If they expect you to use voice within game to play, I'm sure they made Kinect to do just that. I'm looking forward to playing with my friends online in Halo, CoD, and other FPSs without always wearing a headset. Kind of bring it back to LAN gaming days.
Have you tried the built-in streaming in Windows? Like using Zune or Windows Media Player (even easier w/ Win7 and Homegroups). But if it all stopped suddenly, I'm guessing your Windows got updated that might of did something. Or do you have a router? Did the router change up the IPs of your devices? Try to set static IPs.
If the hard drive is broken, then it's broke and that data is gone. If it's content like a XBLA, avatar good, or anything digital like that, you can re-download that content for free (just find it on the marketplace or in your history and re-download). If it's a saved game files, it's gone.
" It makes me sad that so many people would use the UI clusterfuck of WinAmp as opposed to the beauty of Zune. "
Zune user myself, but I do miss the ability to customize and how easy/fast I could make playlists in Winamp. Everyone needs to give the Zune player a try, works great. Also, Zune Pass FTW!
