Finally watched everything I was slightly interested in from this season and the biggest surprise/probably my favorite thing this season is Kabukicho Sherlock, with the English name being 'Case file n21: Kabukicho' for some strange reason. Being yet another anime take on the well worn Sherlock territory, I expected a passable show but was greeted with something more along the vibe of Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens from a while back. Sherlock explaining the mystery through the use of rakugo was just great.

I'm extremely interested in how Hoshiai no Sora (Stars Align) is going to handle the "turn" it throws in at the end. I never have faith in anime to handle things like this well so we'll see how it goes.

There's also something like 6 isekai and I don't objectively hate any of them unlike last season.

iri kept popping up for me for a while but I could never fully get into her earlier stuff. With the release of Shade though, that's when it finally all clicked for me and Wonderland was definitely the track that fully pulled me in.

The new season is already upon us and it starts off with the return of the baseball boys, Ace of Diamond.

I appreciated the small little recap at the beginning and having the names of all the players throughout the episode because I sure don't remember any of the smaller characters.

I'm of the opinion that it wasn't even the best OP of that season with the honors belonging to the first OP of IBO (Raise Your Flag by MAN WITH A MISSION).

In other news, Mob continues to exist on another plane of quality.

For everything besides Strongholds, I was on Hard throughout the story content.

I made the jump to GM1 after I got a Masterwork weapon on Hard (The one with a 33% chance to do extra lightning dmg) and some MW components/other gear. For Colossus, the most common thing you'll see in builds is the use of the Masterwork Shock Coil since it freezes anything that it hits. If you pair that with the MW acid launcher that gives +200% combo damage, you just run around freezing and punching the ground, which basically takes care of all grunt mobs in one combo. Paired with a decent weapon (Personally using the MW Torrent autocannon) and a good amount of +Armor%, GM1 is basically a cake walk. Unfortunately, there's no point of going above GM1.

Boogiepop Phantom is an anime original sequel to the first novel so it's not considered canon. This current iteration is a proper adaptation of the first few novels.

There's something about the way this show looks/moves that is making it hard for me to get into it. It also doesn't help that some of the characters look fairly similar so the non-linear storytelling gets extra jarring trying to double check who is who.

The gap this season between the highs and lows is staggering. You have Mob, Dororo, and Kaguya and then mostly everything else is scraping the bottom of the barrel. My Roommate is a Cat seems ok and Kakegurui continues to exist purely as a painful reminder that Liar Game doesn't have an anime adaptation. I'll probably only end up watching these 5 + Shield Hero so this will be the lowest amount I've watched in a season in a few years.

@sombre: I was in a similar position to you in that I just binged through most of JoJo (I was in the middle of Part 2) to be ready for when Part 5 started. While I was discussing my watch through with others, they warned me about Part 3 being the worst part of the 4 that were out at the time, which I agree with. I'm in a similar boat to you where I generally dislike the concept of Stands. I get why people like them but I just don't find most of the Stands very interesting, especially any of the humanoid ones. Combine the introduction of a new fighting system I dislike and a format that gets stale really fast, it's unfortunate that 3 is the longest part since it's such a slog to get through. The only thing I like about 3 is whenever Joseph is yelling something and a few non-humanoid Stands.

I will say that even though I'm also not particularly high on Part 4, it has much better pacing and characters than 3.

Zombie Land Saga might be incredible? If nothing else, it's the Asobi Asobase of this season with how none of my expectations were met. I felt like I got hit by a train with how out of left field it was.

Looking ahead to Fall as this season's show are slowly ending one after another, it's the smallest amount of shows I'm excited about going into a season in a while. Besides Golden Kamuy and I guess JoJo (I've been binging through it to catch up in time of Pt. 5 and that's a whole separate post I could make about my thoughts on that show), the majority of the sequels are either things I dislike or have dropped previous seasons already so that's a wasteland for me. There's like 4 sports show at least so at least I get my fill of that and there's a few new properties that I've heard positive things about. All this hopefully means I can start my watch/rewatch through Gundam that I've been wanting to do for a few years now.

@puchiko: Island felt like a convoluted mess after the first few episodes but boy did that last episode just make the rest of that show even worse than it already wa
