@GioSpy: Thanks, I've added Banjo-Kazooie. I'm not a big console player, so those titles escape my memory easily.

@Ahmad_Metallic and @poser: yeah, 2007 looks like a very strong candidate for the 2nd best

Hey, I'm mostly a lurker, but all of the "end of the year" stuff got me thinking about what the best year in gaming history would be, and after thinking about it, I think I've come to my conclusion:

1998.

 I've made a GiantBomb list illustrating my point: Why 1998 is the Best Year in Gaming History.

The new franchises that started that year, as well as the new additions to established franchises that year, are pretty impressive.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Agree or disagree? If you disagree, what year would you nominate?

@Australia said:
" To answer the original question in short: Capitalism - Is the economic structure based upon the idea that everyone has a shot at making their fortune and are entitled to the wealth they have earned. (Minus taxes of course) Socialism - Is the political system based upon the idea that every man is equal and everything within a country is property of the government. The wealth of the nation is the divided among the population equally. (Of course this never quite works in practice)  Sure, that is a over-simplification but I tried... "
This is answer that gives the most fair treatment to both sides.

I would add that if you break them down, Capitalism is the political application of individualism, whereas socialism is the political application of collectivism.
