Great Games That I Didn't Like

Here's a list of games that are generally regarded as great games by the community, but for some reason or another, I just didn't like them.

No particular order here.

List items

  • I loved Chrono Trigger and I was really excited for this one. It got really mixed reviews, but I only saw the good ones at the time. Either way I was determined to buy it.

I was royally disappointed as the game never made sense, didn't resemble Chrono Trigger at all, and was just plain boring.

  • The original Tomb Raider is one of my all time favs. It's in the top ten on my all time favorite list. I was super excited for this one. However, I was very disappointing when I finally played this. It didn't seem to look as good. The level design was as "adventurous". All-in-all I just got bored with it. I eventually just found a way to skip to any level I wanted and beat the last level and then never played it again.

  • I can't say that I don't like this game as I only played a few hours, but it still makes its way on to this list mainly because I played this at the peak of my love for Final Fantasy and, even then, got bored with it quickly, put it down and never went back.

(2023 update) Last year I finally played FFVIII almost to completion. Although the combat mechanics were interesting and I mostly like the battles, the story, characters, dialogue, and almost everything else is a stinker... This one stays on this list.

  • I loved FFX (in my all-time fav's list), but this stinker was just too ridiculous and strange to appreciate even ironically. The battle system was its only redeeming quality.

  • Yeah, I know this game is not highly regarded by the community, but it does have the Final Fantasy name on it.

After I played FFVI for the first time, I was desperate for anything final fantasy. However, instead of making the correct decision and purchasing FFIV, I picked this up instead. I made the wrong choice and regret it to this day.

  • Yeah, that's right; I don't like the original Bioshock. It had some good moments and the game play was ok, but all in all it didn't do it for me. I hated how the story was all in recordings instead of cut scenes, the twist was lame (in my opinion), and the final boss fight was frustrating and stupid. Not a fan.

  • This game started out strong, petered out royally in the middle (Mexico), and then never pulled me back in. The ending was okay, but at that point I just wanted to be done with this game and so it just didn't have the impact that it should have. This is one that I might give a second try to.

  • Man where to I begin on how much of a disappointment this one was...

  • I couldn't get past the first enemy... I must be missing something. No interest in giving it a second try.

  • I couldn't get past the bubble thing on the first level. Gave up after trying for about ten minutes. Turned it off and put on a game that was actually intuitive and have not interest in going back.

  • I'm going to give this one a second try sometime, but my first impression is not good. I was super excited for this one, and it doesn't present itself well at first. Maybe it grows on you after a while.

  • I was super excited for this game. I got a few hours in and the difficulty just made it impossible to play. I gave up.

  • I love the "souls" games, but this one was just too hard.

  • I get it; the nemesis system is great. I get it.

Everything else about this game stinks..... The art direction is abysmal, the graphics are terrible, the combat is mediocre at best.....
