@njn: Yeah, I'm wondering the same. I only relatively recently started another playthrough (going through EW for the first time, third playthrough overall since launch) and I got Newfoundland, like, super early on. It was brutal when I got it, and nothing else in EW even compared. I even got through the Base Assault with minimal losses. I haven't researched the mission at all, so maybe there were some prerequisites that they missed out on?

@tshngo: My sister is 32, and has heard the word "pizza" her entire life, but to this day pronounces it as "peekza" despite countless people pointing it out and her trying to fix it only for it to pop up again eventually. Some people just pronounce stuff weird.

Are you hispanic? 90% of my family pronounces it the same exact way.

Yup. Also, lots of people around wanting to "axe" me a question, but that's more or less universal across the entire spectrum of humanity around here, haha.

I personally can't seem to help but pronounce "that" as "dat", so I'm cool with Dan's little flavor sounds.

@roy42: Didn't Dan basically leave everyone untouched his last go-around, when he realized he couldn't change their gender?

I think Abby's our only hope for bringing someone to root for into the squad.

This was probably the case with me, as well. I've grown accustomed to always having a couple of satellites in the making, upgrading troops/equipment ASAP, always having the next facility on the build, etc. I feel like I do a plenty good enough job of draining my own resources that they don't have much to drain in the first place.

@bisonhero: Wooooow, it really does spell it out blatantly. Huh. I guess I can't really criticize the crew for doing that, anymore (even though dismissing both those troops a couple of episodes ago made me damn near spit take.)

I think I was just so caught up in the cool MEC and gene stuff to think too much about the EXALT additions. Also, since I'd played to completion before, I guess I was just kind of overconfident in approaching the game. I was already used to (A): being broke constantly, and (B): everything taking way more time than I had to spare, that I didn't notice the further loss of money/time. It's not like you ever have an abundance of either until pretty late on.

That's cool to know though! I'm sure this won't be the last time I run a playthrough.

@comradesolar: I guess I must have skipped that stuff too, since I didn't notice the loss of time/money as missions popped up for me (I just kind of dealt with them when prompted, much like your standard abduction missions.)

I know they gave me a bunch of clues, and at some point, I'm pretty sure it boiled down to literally one country where EXALT could be headquartered. That's the penthouse you mentioned.

@stoutlager: Those jerks! I'm glad I squashed them, then!

Um, I did squash them, right? There's not gonna be some late game reveal that they're somehow still operating if I got through a mission that was more or less treated like a climax to that story?
