Best of 2010
Well it's the middle of 2011 so obviously it's time for a best of 2010 list! There's a few big games I still have yet to play (AC Brotherhood comes to mind)

The combat designers outdid themselves with their overhaul to the gunplay and cover systems. I was bummed by the severe reduction in number of special abilities, though. The characters were great, with the exception of Jacob (had to look up his name, if that's any indication). His dad would have made a much better teammate! This game made me realize that I'm a 'hell yeah mass effect' kinda guy. I just love big space adventure and this series is the king of that right now.

At first I was put off by some of the changes from IV, but now it's really grown on me and I finally stopped wanting to go back.

Like so many others, I never would have guessed this series could come back so strong. And I really don't care for cowboy shit AT ALL... but man, this game was a really solid piece of work (open world jank aside).

Full Disclosure: I worked on this game so I have no business putting it on the list, yet I spent over a year and a half playing it almost every day in various states of progress and it never got old.

Open world jank aplenty but I sunk 50 hours in, so that's something. I really liked Cass and Yes Man.

Fantastic Audio (musique concrete) work by Martin Stig Anderson, nice art, animation and visual effects and a few really solid puzzles

I'm totally burnt out on Halo multiplayer, so good thing Reach had some interesting characters and a great downer ending.

Made at home in Austin, TX and contains solid Zelda-esque gameplay? Sold.

Some amazing voice acting and awesome facial capture performances. The overall story is pretty weak and the gameplay is uninspired, but the interaction of the characters kept me hooked.

The last multiplayer shooter I played and had any really good times with. I was disappointed in the main campaign compared to the first tho.
