Good to finally have confirmation of the new editorial policy that only games with "Infinite" in the title will have written reviews.

Great piece, Jeff! Looking forward to hopefully seeing more written content on the site!

The Borne To Run must Stream the Souls.

He must remember his duty...

I'd been wondering why Danny kept referencing Dune; since the first episode, he's referenced "The Spice Melange" at least half a dozen times.

Is Danny somehow trapped in a loop, much like the Ashen Ones and Unkindled, compelled to Link the Flame, even though each time, the effects are diminished?

Danny is Borne to Run, a doomed being compelled to Stream The Souls, slowly losing his mind and his memories with each repetition? ...What does that make Tamoor, conspicuously absent from the cutaway segments?

Seeing Sid and Fern grow powerful and strong together has been one of the absolute highlights of the last year for me. Bless these sweet, sweet, babes and may they reign for a million lifetimes.

Sharing Is Caring seems like a wildly broken thing for the game to implement. Seeing the entire living room get robbed in one fell swoop is the second-most heartbreaking thing to happen in this video series, second only to watching Dobby's trophy get yoinked right in broad daylight.

I think using cheats or mods to turn Sharing Is Caring off would be well within the bounds of this challenge (especially now that the Cursed trait has already put things on hard mode)

I was really excited for this game, and knew going in that my partner and I would have to share one island since we only have one Switch; however I was not prepared for the extremely limiting constraints put on any players beyond the first.

The first player gets to name the island and has an entire intro about moving to the deserted island, and gets introduced to the other villagers, gets to help them set their tents, etc. Tom Nook gives them tutorials and recipes. The second player just arrives on the island and gets to set up their tent.

The first player gets greeted by Tom Nook each morning with an update on today's events, any new animals that have moved to the island (and the opportunity to place their house,) as well as quests with tutorials that unlock the vaulting pole and ladder. The second player gets no explanations of any kind, just the recipe for the ladder and pole silently show up in the shop after the first player has unlocked them.

The first player gets to collect materials to build the store and make donations to start the museum. The second player just gets told 'another villager already took care of that!" and cannot place buildings or bridges.

The first player gets a robust, charming, deserted island getaway experience and the fun of meeting new neighbors, helping them setup their house, and contributing to the town. The second player gets to catch bugs.

Every previous Animal Crossing allowed you to have multiple towns per console - either one per memory card, or one per copy of the game (even New Leaf, if you had two physical copies). This is the first time where, even if you buy four physical copies of this game, you only get one island to share and a hamstrung experience for three of the four players. It's a huge bummer, and seeing all the special experiences my partner gets to have has completely sapped my desire to keep playing since all I get to do is grind bells to pay off my mortgage.

When they first showed the trailer for this at E3, @benpack mentioned that it looked like House of Leaves, and for what I've played so far I think that's a pretty fair comparison. I could easily see the house in that book being a hiss-infested corner of the Oldest House.
