I mean I see no problem if there was a block where it was a continuing series for a couple hours, but when it overwhelms the entirety of days and days, it becomes tiresome and viewers grow to become irate; and you ultimately wish to avoid it until something new comes along.
A good nominee for "Please Stop" is 80's nostalgia in video games. Not to say every game has that example, but tossing in 80's references with neon gradients and synth into a video game and saying "80's, YEAH!" is now reaching. Blood Dragon was the end-all, be-all of that.
