To Brad's question about anime that isn't Japanese, allow me to introduce the cast to "Amerime"' that became the defacto descript. within the animation world, when Avatar the last Airbender was peak popularity- Amerime; n. -American directed animation taking large influence from Japanese Manga/animation styles. Most of the time, key animation frames design and storyboards/animatics are drawn by the big-house american artists and animators, and then as has always been the case for animated action shows produced in America, a majority of the 'animating' like in-betweens, the thousands and thousands of drawings between poses, color and detail or additional layering etc. is done by various companies in South Korea, then 'sent back' for final pass, additonal effects and construction, and editing, final production done in-house and then produced for better or worse.

This has been your animation minute because animation is my job and brad asked and nobody gave him the actual answer!

Informative cast, thanks dudes

Dan has failed to get out of the Hinterlands.

Please use this as a revelation that an initial goal to 100% a game is madness and folly and that's what you do at the end when you realize you really like it already.

This is also worth quoting and is good video game health advice I agree with 100% of

My ultimate moment of frustration from RDR2 came when I spent 15 minutes hauling a stolen wagon to a fence, only to have the left horse of the carriage barely clipped the door and in an attempt to put it in reverse, the ''wagon became too damaged to sell" which was a product of controls, at the very end of a time consuming and resource spent endeavor. Frustrating.

That much said, I am probably at the final chapter and I have enjoyed probably 90% of this, as Dan put it, a saga for the last 3 weeks. That one thing, the big thing that annoys most people late game, I burned through in one sitting and also feel it does not need to be there, that much said, it's behind me and stopped playing for a moment. To compliment what Alex was saying, if you take a break, come back and look to unchain and have some fun with it, it shines again.

I think Dan honestly is full of hyperbole and his black and white logic is his own to make, but I think at least in part by nature, Dan is feeling with the controls with what Alex felt with AC odyssey, in that trying to burn through something, opinion is soured by context, not by the quality of the game all said and done. Every angle is fair, and yeah, I get annoyed by this game especially with the mission leashing arthur's range, when I cut loose and emulate the goofin' I did in RDR1, it's been a really good time, which I think maybe Dan is too frustrated to allow himself at this point..

I see where everyone with issues with controls and structure come from, but "I think I hate red dead' is a sad result of both the game's ambitions in front of pace, as well as Dan's hours played smashed so close together, like trying to binge watch 18 seasons of a show in one day. Or somethin'.

Worst and most exhausting shift, thank you for bringing me this needed joy every week when 'fun' is difficult to have. You guys are the beast.

Man, my my family had a Gateway, and windows sound recorder with the provided mic and roller coaster tycoon were the two most amazing things on the planet as a kid.

Abby's squint looked like she was trying to hold in a fart for a lot of the stream so I pretended that was the case and it made me laugh.

Also, I'm team Dan when it comes to Kevin Smith movies being lame and obnoxious levels of quirk.

These unrelated comments out of the way, I really likes this one, more Jeff in vids!

Alright I have to chime in on the red dead controls discussion for the cast with what I think helps the game pace and cinematic aspects at the same time-

First, set every prompt to Hold. Then set the deadzone all the way down, accelleration to medium, then turn lock on sensitivity to 'wide' and sort of pick your favorite weapons/items and the wheel stuff actually becomes pretty snappy (maybe that's a bit much, but I have the item wheel control stuff down, and only equip certain items so I don't have to sift much). This stuff can take a little while to dial in, but is so worth doing, and I am very surprised at how weird the default feels- that said, they do allow you to dial it all in, which like the rest of this game, is all about how much you're willing to sink into it for the best time playing the game.

The biggest change in controls that improved the game for me was to set auto aim to wide; I think in the grand scheme of what the game is, this improves the experience of cinematic slow pacing and buildup and the combat becomes more item-tactics, and allows you to have more fun with it overall. While less about accuracy as you rely almost entirely on auto aim here - making the shooting very easy makes the shootouts of a different kind of fun, allowing you much more dead eye time and shots that aren't frustrating, and won't break your momentum when the big shootout happens. Also this game is so GD long, that to fail a mission is incredibly frustrating and immersion breaking even with the checkpoint system, so being able to ace it like a boss on the first run with maximum auto aim is so much more satisfying.

I don't like some other pace-relative control aspects of Red Dead 2, but to jeff's general baffle-ment over Arthur's walking pace- I just got to Saint Denis, after probably 50 hours of relatively similar acting towns, (i spent a lot of time in chapter 2,3) the effect and shift in the game and gameplay is immense, and so damn detailed that the slow walk begins to make sense. Valentine and Rhodes are cool, and populated but very western themed, and big, such that 'moseying' felt just too slow for the environment, and over-done to me; however by comparison Saint Denis sprawl is so different, dense and detailed and alive that Arthur's molasses mosey suddenly makes sense, and feels appropriate and immersive in a way that open expanse towns didn't after a while.

All that said, I am also hopping between games and Red Dead is a meaty, weighty game and between the long, long stretch sessions of playing that, I am very glad that Red Dead did it, and it works, but also very glad that other video games are not of the same pacing.
