Old Game of the Year: Dark Souls

It will always be Dark Souls. Any category that will allow it as an entry Dark Souls will win for me. It cannot be overstated how much I love that damn game.

Runners-up: The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective

URL of the year: http://adarkroom.doublespeakgames.com/

I'm not really a fan of Candy Box. Cookie Clicker was fun but I got bored pretty quickly. A Dark Room was special in that it actually had a decent story start to emerge, out of absolutely nothing. The way the mechanics of it tie in with the eventual revelation is a simple thing, but very well done.

Best Surprise: Saint's Row IV

I know i'm in the minority here, but Saints Row: The Third really didn't do anything for me. It went further in a direction I didn't like compared to the previous game, and most of the jokes and goofiness of the world fell flat. Add in them killing my favorite character offscreen, adding in new characters that were completely unlikeable, and having a rather incoherent story and I was tired of it well before it ended. So, much to my surprise, Saints Row IV was incredible in every single way possible. Gone was the horrible sex humor, back were characters that were just fun to hang out with, and they hit just the right level of seriousness/goofiness that made the story not veer too hard in either direction. It's a group of amoral people having a fun-ass romp with their best buddies, while some serious shit goes down. It's hard to get that experience from any other game.

Runners-up: Tomb Raider, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

Best Looking Game: Bioshock Infinite

Just, goddamn. I'm not usually one to focus in hard on graphics, but the environments in Bioshock Infinite are just gorgeous. After i'd finish up an area and looted it clean i'd often just take another trip around the skyrails to get a peaceful view of the beautiful place I had just shot to hell. Columbia really is a good looking place, and it contrasts nicely with the ugliness of all the people inhabiting it.

Runners-up: Tomb Raider, Saints Row IV
