I've put in a few hundred hours into this over the last five years and can honestly say that I hated most of it. This Quick Look is a fair enough take on what a new player's experience would be. I think Rust is a mean, unfriendly, stressful chore of a game that's been tuned by the devs to be that way.
Sometimes I need that sort of masochism in my life, but there's a severe inbalance of power between adults who have jobs and personal lives to maintain versus groups of teenage kids who rule a server 12 hours after reset. I really just wish this game had a sort of singleplayer component because the survival/crafting systems are actually really well done, *sigh*.
