GOTY 2012

Making this list made me realize how little I have played recently released games. Budget constraints and general lack of interest in the waning years of the console cycle have turned me off from most of the big name titles. Also, the fact that I've nearly made the complete switch over to Linux for my PC has kept me from sampling much, beyond the Humble Bundle fair.

If there is one thing I regret not getting a chance to play, it's XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Still in elementary school or junior high when the original came out, I didn't have the patience for that kind of gaming experience.

As far as a regrettable purchase, Diablo III ranks high on the list. To me, Diablo II only worked as a multiplayer game with my friends. While a few would join me every once in a while, real life (as a 25 year old male) has taken gaming off the priority list, so we would rarely find the time to get together.
