I'm disappointed. Not in the article, but in a lot of these comments.

I was on your side when it came to a lot of the dismissive elitism coming from a shocking amount of gaming journalists over this ending discussion, but the staff at GB are not part of that. Patrick even waited to play the game through and assess the situation before making this article, and users STILL flamed him despite having a quite reasonable take. He even SAYS outright near the start that he AGREES about the specific narrative missteps that went on, but that this article was about the bigger picture (done with much less condescending arguments than other sites).

I swear, this is why the level-headed users don't bother to lump themselves in with the mules and prefer to stay silent.

The perspective/aesthetic they're going for could have easily (if not preferably to flesh out their characters even more) been applied to Jacob or Kaiden/Ashley, but I guess BioWare had to account for the damned Suicide Mission and Virmire.

I'm pulling for him to actually be likeable rather than just wide-eyed newbie to Shepard's crew (even the weaker ME2 characters felt like they fit into the universe and had their own histories and thoughts; they weren't just put there to fulfill a role).

Oh yeah, especially with as cheap as it is now. The core gameplay is great, particularly being able to choose how each character progressed and being able to switch out ANYONE in the middle of battle (even the main character). The "Overdrive" mini-games were brilliant. Honestly, the only downsides are the story mazes and cringe-worthy dialogue here-and-there. Everyone rages against Blitzball, but it's totally optional after the initial introduction.

I do recommend that you look into Kimarhi if you play it, though. He's a lot more interesting than he appears to be in combat; I had to learn that lesson the hard way in a late-game boss fight.

...They actually didn't look too bad in that DBZ review. Ryan apparently had a babyface thing going on in the day (complete with a softer voice as well), and Jeff looked and acted *exactly* the same, minus the streak which kinda worked for him.

He sounds passionate...hopefully the desire to really do something with Halo's narrative within the actual games didn't leave with him. I'm also pulling for more in-game development and less jarring cutscenes...taking a cue from Valve wouldn't be terrible.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you can describre a game you haven't even seen and based on their impressions better than them.

Ditto.

I'm a follower of the philosophy that if a narrative is well-done, it won't matter if the twists and such are spoiled for you since the execution is still worth seeing.

That said, I'm kinda pissed at how people refuse to title LA Noire topics relating to its ending without a morsel of subtlety.

*MILD SPOILERS*

Comparing it to the ending of a certain other R* game or wondering if a sequel was possible pretty much gave it away.

Depends on what kind of setup you have. If you've got an apartment with your own single room w/door lock (which you should always use, even if you just leave to use the restroom), I wouldn't worry unless your roommates seem really shady. Otherwise, bring only stuff you really think you'll need (or don't care about). Either use cable locks or bring your laptop with you. Buy a safe if you're paranoid. I'd advise against flaunting expensive goods as well.

Yikes. I wonder if his cronies will be getting in on the Diablo III auction house...

Nah, it'd probably be too much work to find good items people would want to buy.
