I have too many Steam games... help me!

Hey guys,

Over the last few years the Steam sales have done a lot of damage to my wallet and the result is ~350 steam games, probably about 320 of which I've never played! I'm unfortunately currently employed so have a lot of free time on my hand so why not start ploughing through some of the list?

I'll be documenting my progress along the way, with where I can daily posts saying my thoughts on the games as I play through them, possibility of screenshots and/or videos plus perhaps the opportunity to add some information to Giant Bomb amongst the way by contributing information for the lesser known/documented titles.

I'll be taking suggestions of games to play next from the list as well as any advice to give on those games to help me out.

Unfortunately the steam games list is not in a copy & paste format so I'll just post a link here http://steamcommunity.com/id/mijati/games?tab=all

You can see that I've not played a majority of the games and some of them that I have played has not been for a long period of time. So feel free to suggest anything at all really! I'll probably replay some games that's I've already played through (Portal 2 I want to play through again for example).

I don't have any specific goal in mind for the number of games I want to go through and for a lot of them I won't play them to completion.

So yeah, start suggesting the first game now and I'll probably get in at least an hour or so tonight depending.

Cheers!

Holy crap that is a lot of games. I thought I went a bit mad with the steam sales but that is insane. Good luck though, I look forward to your views on some of those crazy indie games.

You could use this thing to create some sort of list (it's normally for showing what your steam games are worth in total)

@ZeForgotten: Problem with that is no matter which region I pick there'll be a chunk of games missing due to different releases in regions/being released under other names or whatever.

The number of games seems to be lacking about 50 or so I'd say at the very least from the normal list so not do-able I'm afraid. Thanks for the suggestion though.

For those that are curious Found 258 Games with a value of $3407.93 USD/£2364.20 GBP not as bad as I feared :D

@LetsRockBaby: Apparently not, I just searched for it an nothing. It's fun scrolling through my steam list every now and then I'll come across a game and go "What the hell is this?" or go to buy something and it'll say that I already own it! It's always fun to open Steam and get a surprise!

@Witzig: MMOs/Console games/Whatever. Also Team Fortress 2 413.4 hrs on record, although some of those have been idling to be honest but a decent amount of hours put into that :P.

I don't have a WoW subscription but think I've put ~50 days into that if not more over the past 3 years. Another MMO Time Played: 273 days 11 hours.

So yeah, steam hasn't been getting enough love until now ;)

I would love to know how Bully plays. Been thinking about buying it, but the internet told me that it might not work with win7.

I would start with one of the Bioware games.  Preferably KOTOR if you haven't ever played it.  It is a classic and if you love the Star Wars universe then I think you would love that game.  The Half-Life series is great as well.  Really you could just pick a random game out of the list and have a blast.  There are tons of great games in that list.

@MrForty7: I remember trying KOTOR before and had nothing but problems with it crashing that I couldn't even get out of the first room, but definitely something I'm interested in playing even though I know absolutely nothing about Star Wars. Half-Life series is indeed awesome played them all before steam did the whole tracking thing but may very well do a run through HL2 again at some point.

I think I'm going to start with Bioshock unless any other suggestions come up soon. I've already played a few hours on the 360 version a couple of years back but never got into it so will be interesting to try it again and hopefully get into it now.

I think Freedom Force is criminally underappreciated. The writing is hilarious, and I sort of like that they don't have the Marvel or DC license, because it gave them more freedom to do whatever they wanted with the characters and storyline.
And while we're talking about Irrational Games, Bioshock is also worth playing.

Max Payne 1 and 2 are both incredibly good games. The first game got shit hard at the end, while the second game was comparatively easy throughout. The graphics and writing in the 2nd game are considerably better as far as I'm concerned, though the storyline is slightly more convoluted in the 2nd game.

The Puzzle Agent games are quite brief, so you could probably complete each one in a single sitting. The puzzles aren't quite as good as Professor Layton, but the storyline is just as charming as Layton but in a totally different way.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is pretty great, but it depends what kind of RPG you like. It's the kind of RPG with lockpicks. If you're more into RPGs like Mass Effect/Diablo II where shit is popping off constantly and you're mowing down dudes all the time, you may find it a little slow.

Super Meat Boy and VVVVVV are in contention for my favourite platformers of 2010 (sorry, Donkey Kong Country Returns), because they both have phenomenally well designed levels, and amazing soundtracks.

And Zeno Clash isn't particularly long, but has some of the most original art design I've ever seen in a game, and the first-person brawling is oddly satisfying.

Yeah I also had problems with KOTOR, running on windows 7. Never played it back in the day. In agreement with BisonHero VVVVVV was one of my favorite games of last year. I can't really believe how much content you have there, I mean some of those games you could sink weeks into. If you've not gone through the old school GTA's and Rockstar stuff I'd highly recommend that. The gameplay might seem a little old at this point but the music, story and settings are easily some of the best in video games. Had an 80 hour save in San Andreas at one point, attempting to get 100%. Never made it.

Played all the old GTA stuff to death, although not GTA:SA much actually, just another game I couldn't get into. I loved 3 and VC but for some reason SA was just, I don't know. But definitely going to give it another try.

Beaten VVVVV off steam and to be honest, I wasn't a huge fan. Was very simple and easy. Super Meat Boy on the other hand is an awesome game and one I continually go back into and put lots more time into it and has the best soundtrack out of any game released last year (Sorry Starcraft 2).

I want to go through bully at some point so that'll be high up on my list I think, and messing around on the old old GTA games (1/2) is probably going to be something I do while listening to the bombcast and stuff.
