This game will suffer so much from huge expectations that come from a misunderstanding of procedural generation combined with the conflation of the promises of this game with the insane claims of stuff like Star Citizen.
The giant number of "unique" planets are all constructed from different combinations of a smattering of prefab structures from a handful of different races/factions, randomly named flora and fauna that have a shared pool of models that they hope is big enough so people don't see repeats, randomly seeded crystals and deposits of minerals that are really all the same but just have different names and rarities and need in crafting recipes, pretty superfluous weather/toxicity variables and atmosphere/terrain palette swaps, and are linked together by a pseudo-random progression of a story thread to keep the player moving towards the center of the galaxy.
This game is doomed to be the next Spore because people confused an indie space survival game that has a lot of random elements for an infinite sandbox of the universe due to misplaced hype and fairly murky marketing that let people fill in the unknown with their wildest fantasies.
Oh, and the technical problems including dithering and pop-in, a ridiculously narrow FOV, a camera that seems to sit about 2 feet off the ground, and other janky things like the way you can't swim with your head above water, aren't helping the game out either.
I don't know what I expected from a man who brags about skipping all of his classes in college, but the level of ignorance showcased in this video is absolutely jaw-dropping.
