I agree that install base is a big part of the closeness.   But don’t forget, Microsoft put a lot of co-marketing dollars behind this game.   

As far as the over all console winner is concerned the PS3 versions will inevitably sell more since it had a huge head start in .  

First they leave EA now Activisions goes nuts.

By my count it won 9 awards.   Is that some sort of record?   Uncharted 2 winning game of the year has become old news at this point but winning the most prestigious of awards is still a boon for the game.

There was one this summer where they talked about dinosaurs for the first 20 minutes.   That one was awesome.

Is it just me or does the character model look more detailed than the other games?   Like it is high def or something.

Also, any significance in the fact this is the first GoW where you see Kratos’ face?

I am glad Uncharted won but Batman is a worthy alternative.

While I agree, I am a little surprised.

Looking at all the top 10 lists literally all the staff had Batman on there and you could not say that about Uncharted. Yes, I understand it is not a weighted voting system or anything like that, but overall opinion seemed to favor Batman on all but two of the lists.  

Also of note was the fact that Jeff had Batman ranked higher on his list and it seems that his choice usually wins out.   For example, last year the crew was split between MGS4 and GTA IV.  Eventually, Ryan changed his vote and Brad relented.  

I am also glad Modern Warfare 2 did not win.   It is a good game that deserves consideration but there are significant flaws in all three game modes and the whole enterprise felt a bit soulless.   A good game, but there are several, better, options out there.  

Puzzles that have no logical solution and are built around random chance and arbitrary solutions, and not reason and skill.  

 
Poor save system.  Games should automatically save  before and after major events, and after leveling up.  Most people hate repetition and this makes it necessary.  
 
Underwater levels.  I would do 20 escort missions in a game to avoid one underwater level.  I can't explain why they are so bad or why they keep showing up in games or why developers have yet to get it right.  
 
Online co-op with no matchmaking.  This has been a major new problem this year and I hope it can be solved soon.
