People put too much on her being a woman while overlooking the point.

She is with IGN, that's a much more obvious connection on the surface than all of those ads EA puts up and advance review copies that can be pulled if they dare say the game was poorly done.

There are much worse conflicts of interest where the big umbrella corporations are concerned, but she put a face on it by being rendered in to the game.

Out of all the hints here this is the one that did it.

At least the game is done rather than sinking time in to it, and a worthless multiplayer, that should have been spent finishing the game.

I'd think that the poorly developed afterthought that was the gay option would have been more insulting than the few people who were up in arms about its inclusion. My Shep romanced Jack, so I didn't see it in game, but I have watched them on YouTube. The gay romance seemed like a horrible afterthought and the lesbian one seemed like a teenage boy's fantasy given life in a game.

No amount of back-story on Cortez and his husband could make what he had with Shepherd seem like more than something stuck in to appease people and show that they were progressive by including homosexual relationships. Traynor was a bit better in the development, but it went from someone you thought you could be friends with to someone wanting to take a shower with you.

Of course some of the straight relationships were no better, but at least there were some of them that had passable writing and had a little emotion to them.
