I'm just going to try to remember him like this. In all seriousness, I cannot think of a single loss as big as this one in video games. The man was a giant. RIP
Part of what I love about Alex, is that he has this really dark sense of humor, but is the biggest sucker for cute shit in video games. I can totally relate. As far as the above discussion on his depression/anxiety, I appreciate that he doesn't try to hide it, and draws humor from it.
MOBA's have turned into the WOW thing, where everyone wants to make one, and they will all fail. I love DOTA, but for the love of all that is holy let Heroes of the Storm be the last one through the door.
Transistor is definitely worth a look. The story/narrative has some issues, and isn't on par with Bastion. But, the ability and combat systems are really fun to play with. The combat feels really expressive, giving you a TON of choices.
Also, Nuclear Throne. The throne is actually in the game now, so if you haven't tried it, now is as good of a time as any. It's Vlambeer doing that thing where they make an arcade game out of an existing genre. In this case it's the rouge-like(like{like}). Gameplay is really fast, challenging, and enjoyable. Also, the music is super badass.
After saving up for a few holidays, as a kid I bought a Sega Activator. "What's a Sega Activator?" you might ask. It was this piece of shit. I never really got it to work, and traded it in for credit at Babagges.
