Crappy console-to-PC ports

Hi. I'm doing this list to warn others about some of the games that might be great on PlayStation or Xbox, but really, really blows on the PC.

This is not very review'ey gameplay-wise - it's just to get an overview of half-assed porting efforts. As seen by me and whoever suggests stuff to the list.

List items

  • Very crappy. They didn't even bother to change the default button prompts. So yeah, you're going to have dialogues telling you to "Press the A button or the Left Trigger", and that means you'll have to press Ctrl, or Spacebar or whatever.

  • As per TMThomsen's comment: "I would add BioShock 2 to that list. The floaty mouse in that game is awful."

Personally, I can't remember, but that's most likely right.

  • I've heard several complaints from friends about the GUI being not very PC-like, and I agree that some of the key bindings and UI is not very keyboard/mouse friendly.

  • Rockstar is apparently known for sucking at ports, and this one is no different. Out-of-the-box it's rumored to be near-unplayable, but even in the patched version you'll have all sorts of weird glitches, and I even had my volume turning up and down by itself and making a horrible noise from time to time, sounding like my computer was about to explode.

Oh, and the controls are braindead as well. Tapping Shift to sprint is very, very bad for your pinky in the long run.

  • Same issue as RE4: Slow moving and turning that may feel natural with two thumbsticks but definitely doesn't when you use a mouse.

  • Maybe I didn't give this one much of a chance, but I remember the controls as being extremely clunky on the keyboard and (particularly) the mouse.
