This is a bad category. I'm with Jeff (22 minutes in) where my impression was the category was about the best realized world (narrative/characters/locations/lore). Vinny/Brad/Abby definitely seem to be talking about the best sandbox to play in.
Agree, why is Jeff the only one (well Jason too a bit) there that knows what a Game World is.
I don't know if I can read another review or really listen to Alex or Brads opinion on a game if they have no idea about what a world is.
Boy what a mess Best World category is. Jeff hit the head on the nail for the most part, but its bewildering to me how Brad and Co could be confusing SETTING with STORY (which is more synonymous with plot). Best World should have the name changed to Best Setting, as I think that best reflects the original spirit of the category. It would include the setting itself and how well the game communicates that setting in a way that immerses you in its world. Star Wars and its galaxy is a setting -the movies are stories within that setting (or World if you will).
Definitely agree with all of this, I thought there was a clear understanding of "World" in the gaming community
"Best World" - agree with Jeff, what is this category. World is not interacting, that's just a game technical issue, it should just be the story behind the environment and the look of the environment not the interacting.
Was expecting discussions around the story and world building not getting stuck on rocks in the environment, come on...
Wow that Nier soundtrack is mediocre, after listening to everything else there's no way I'd say it's even close to top 5, the annoying child squealing song they played at the end hurt my ears.
Cuphead as the best looking game? it is beyond overrated, it certainly is not consistent in it's look at all
Weird how a best looking game is automatically disregarded because its a sequel? each year and game should be contained in it's own silo of the current year but it was a difficult one all round
