Also, seems I'm in the minority but retconing to save Tali is super lame as, regardless of whether you think her death was justified, it's completely against the artistic vision of the devs.
I find the decision to do a million missions before recruiting half of your team bizarre. You're not going to have enough time to get close with some of the best companions in the game.
I’ll just add to the chorus saying that new format is boring. Also the argument that this format somehow helps to “focus” the discussion is nonsensical. Instead, eliminating the categories actively de-focuses the discussion because the categories helped them to focus on a single aspect of the game— the sound, music, graphics, story etc. Instead, now they just talk in general about the games for like 15 hours which is not only redundant with the Bombcast but also with the top 10 list itself. It’s the exact opposite of what they are saying. The only real benefit of the format change is that there is less fighting on the podcasts, which is probably nice for the work environment but unfortunately, yields boring content.
Yeah, I feel pretty good about deciding Death Stranding wasn't for me when that TGS stuff came out. Remembering how much I hated MGSV was also a big factor.
I will say this though: Acting like "Oh, Kojima's been like this all along and if you like Metal Gear and not this your just rooted in nostalgia!" is a bad, bad take. There is a definitive tone shift between 1-Peacewalker and 5/DS, and for me personally, that's where it loses me. The non-stop dour, seriousness is a real turn-off and it's not a thing he did before.
And acting like the systems in MGS3 are nearly as bad as what it sounds like DS has is disingenuous at best.
MGSV was a great game with amazing gameplay. This game isn't even on the same level as MGSV.
