Vinyl is not gone at all. Actually ITS selling way better than ever before.
Yeah, vinyl sales have grown every year for over 12 years, and in 2015 they passed digital sales. According to Billboard and the Guardian, 2017 had the highest number of record sales since 1991.
I would believe this, but you've also got to think of the general trends of music consumption. Nobody buys music outright anymore--digital vs. physical sales are almost meaningless in a world where everyone streams their music.
Pitchfork did a great article about the vinyl boom recently. I love that vinyl is doing so well, but it's unfortunate that people are mostly interested in buying the same classic albums you can pick up from thrift stores.
I was an extra when Blink 182 were shooting the video for 'Bored To Death' a few weeks back. I don't know much about this new dude but hell, they all seemed pretty happy to be together.
