  • I could take or leave the single player to be perfectly honest with you, even though I recognize its quality, especially at the end. But nothing hooked me harder this year than entering the ranks of SC2 multiplayer. I entertained dreams of becoming a top player and still had ridiculous amounts of fun even once I realized I would never attain those heights because the match-making system is uncannily perfect. It's also the closest thing to a perfect game anyone has created since chess in my opinion.

  • I have played this game a total of five times now and plan on playing it through again once the PS3 version is released because I haven't touched any of the DLC. I very rarely play games over again once I beat them and five times is unprecedented. Every location, piece of music, character interaction and combat scenario grudge-fucked the pleasure center of my brain with a giant Solarian-shaped dildo.

  • Make it crazier. Keep going. A little more crazy. I've got a fever and the only prescription is more crazy. Retain the flawless deep combat system while doing it? Sure, why not.

  • RDR is all about atmosphere and setting. And how about that ending, eh?

  • Unfairly panned by Brad in my opinion. This is a very tightly constructed game with a surprising amount of depth even though it may appear simple on the surface. Single player is amazing but co-op is even better because of the varied play-styles and strategies it supports. The only thing more addictive than Dead Nation for me was Starcraft II multiplayer. Dead Nation is the best co-op game of the year, especially as couch co-op.

  • This game doesn't sound fun when you write about it, no matter how prettily you dress it up. But spending a couple minutes with the game will inevitably turn into hours. It is fun and addictive. Oh God is it addictive. Nintendo has kept up a constant stream of downloadable puzzles for free even though most players won't have near enough time to complete the large amounts of puzzles that ship on the cart. Unlock-able prizes and a level creator give staggering amounts of value to this already meaty hunk of fun.

  • World of Warcraft for people who play racing games. 'Nuff said.

  • It's-a-me! A sequel to one of the best Mario games ever that actually improves the seemingly flawless first one! Er, Mario.

  • If anyone bothered to check the PSN store on their PSP, they might realize that Cladun was head and shoulders above Dragon Quest 9 while scratching the same itch harder and better. An endless RPG with insane amounts of loot, depth, and a real-time combat system that you build yourself depending on how you built your character. Did I mention it has a joyous retro aesthetic and a quirky sense of internet nerd humor?

  • I'm pretty sure this came out in 2009 on the DS but 2010 on the PSP? Even if they both came out in 2009, I'm sure the iOS version came out this year. Whatever the case, I finally played it this year after attempting to play it a handful of times and losing interest. Once you get over the hump of getting used to the controls and the tiny cars and people, the hooks will settle in and take you down for the ride of your handheld life. This is truly a full GTA that is shockingly close to having most of the features of GTA4. The only thing this game really lacks is lyrics and voices on the radio, which always add a lot of value to GTA. The music in the game was really well done-- Kudos to Rockstar for giving Tortoise and DFA their own radio stations-- but I missed not having Lazlow or the commercials. Play it on the PSP it is gorgeous and makes the hassle of reaching for your stylus every couple minutes not exist.
