The game that never gets old. Infinite replayability.
A technical achievement at the time. It's also the game that birthed the modern era of gaming imho. No other game gave you such a cinematic feeling.
Was tempted to put Wolfenstein 3D here instead. But whilst improving from wolfenstein's formula we also got multiplayer FPS games first here.
Randomly generated missions and a ton of depth. An addictive management sim combined with eerie isometric turnbased strategy. One of the most satisfying games I played in my teens.
Revelutionary 3D graphics and online play. Personally I was way more into Duke Nukem 3D and later Unreal Tournament, but Quake's achievements is nothing to laugh at.
