@steveurkel: Disagree, I like Marmite and my taste buds aren't destroyed, so do a lot of people. (Also note that marmite is different in different countries, although a lot of people would still think it tastes like dog feces because of a lack of corn syrup. Also very healthy for you BTW). But I manage my marmite by using it sparingly mixing it with ample amount of butter, or even Honey. Think of that as a metaphor of dealing with Borderlands flaws. But I also get that people just don't and won't like marmite. I think that the description holds. Also I'm talking about actual opinions on the game, not reactions to those opinions (i.e. Rick & Morty).

I see what they were saying on the podcast a lot better with this video. But, it seems like what they call in this part of the world a bit of a "Marmite" Game, not only that but different flavours of marmite. For instance, here they commend the boss battles, but elsewhere at other publications they have been considered one of the most problematic parts. It's been interesting to see the spectrum of perspectives on the game and the series.

As stated in the comments section of the podcast, I'm disappointed in the story/writing from what I have seen, given how much i like how Tales showed the potential of the storytelling of the fiction.

TBH though, given the apparent problems, watching this video is tempting me to play this sooner rather than later however. On PC of course.

While i enjoyed the conversation about BL3, I would liked to heard more from Jason and Ben. There was too much talk about what Borderlands 3 isn't, which is only useful to a point, and wished there was more about what it is,especially from people who like the Borderlands series.

I'm not surprised by Jeff and Brads take on the game given their opinions (or lack thereof) on the previous games, so I would like to have heard a little more from people who do like them more. I'll be interested in Abby's take if she has played it as I believe she likes the Borderlands as well. I am glad there are more diverse opinions and tastes on Giant Bomb now which has really restarted and kept me on premium these days.

I personally am not planning to play soon as I tend to try and avoid buying many new games, especially with potential substantial DLC releases following, for value/budget/time/backlog reasons. But, I have been replaying the older games, from the new enhanced edition of 1, just finished the Pre-sequel and now 2 for the recent DLC. I have always enjoyed the games for the most part, but I have realized that in each I always am at least a little frustrated and annoyed the first time through, and have a far more enjoyable time after replaying it. The Pre-Sequel for example, I was really annoyed by the O2 thing, never used things like slamming, and was confused and annoyed by the story and dialogue the first time through. But my recent second time I knew not to be to concerned about O2 as it really isn't that much of a worry and only really a thing and the beginning part of that game, I used slamming to get me out of some tight spots, and as with all the Borderlands game I could deal with the good and bad parts of the story and dialogue better. It seems BL3 will be the same or similar.

I am a little disappointed about what people have been saying about the story/writing though, given I really enjoyed Tales from the Borderlands, I was hoping that they learned from the writing (or even possibly poached the writer/s) from that.

The way Dan reacts in these RE videos reminded me of this baby fart reacting video. Dan is the Baby and Abby playing in a tense situation are the Fart noises.

Also Abby's glasses look great.

Man, I was literatly crying with laughter at Vinny's "landing". I start laughing just thinking about it.

It's really Dan's perspective that makes it that much better, where Vinny just comes in from Stage Right.

This series has been great.

GOTY Deliberations: Giant Bomb Jury Service - 9 Angry Men Edition.

Seriously though, I do enjoy these videos, but I couldn’t give a shit who wins or is who is in the top three. The reasoning is so pedantic it’s as useless as a detailed review score. Hell, most people, even the staff, don’t even remember them. I find awards in general a useless outdated exercise, especially competitive ones.

However, I’ve always enjoyed these videos as a year in review, hearing the very free and detailed discussions on games that came out. Ben describing The Messenger, Abby’s excitement and description of Obra Dinn, and Brads and Alex’s experiences with RDR 2 means I will get these sooner rather than later, for example. The music discussion has always been a highlight too, although for me I haven’t enjoyed the music this year as much previous years (I’m with you Vinny, God of War maybe have been one of those OSTs, but it was a really good one of those).

In short these discussions were really good Games of the Year deliberations, rather than Game of the Year.

PS, Although GB don't represent a lot of my gaming tastes in many ways anymore, like the F1 games or RTS games like TW:Warhammer 2 which is my most played game of 2018, I'm glad Jason's there to represent some more fringe-y niche stuff, however little discussion there was on it (EDF 5 represent, although it came out too late).

Also Jan's Jim Halpert levity shots are great.

@geocom: I'm glad they liked it too, (and your parcel in general), I have been meaning to do something similar but never have gotten around to it. TBH, the Whittakers isn't that bad, but the L&P Bikkies to me personally were awful. Mind you, I have a lower tolerance to confectionery in general since reducing it drastically in my diet.

I'm sure Ben knows the difference and misheard or something, I was just making light of everyone giving him a hard time in the comments.

Jesus Ben. First its so shaky that I have to physically look away because I'm getting dizzy. Ok, its a mailbag so not really meant to be too professional, lessons learned etc. But to call a fellow Kiwi an Aussie, that's inexcusable.

For those wondering the P in L&P is Paeroa, the town where the drink was first created using the mineral water there. There is a Statue of a Bottle of L&P there. Its a soda here, which I like, but have been mashing with all types of confectionery, which i find gross. I often go past the town to see family members, and stop into the public toilets, so if there is pee in it some of it may be mine.
