I would be very curious if there is an age difference between people who are saying that Dan's behavior is ruining their enjoyment/the spirit of the feature and those who are saying "what is the big deal? it is just lolz".
I would not say that it makes me angry, but it makes me not really want to watch it anymore. Part of it is that you have 3 people on one page for this feature and then one on another. I would just rather watch something else that seems more sincere and devoid of this "fuck 'it, it's just a video game bit, who cares" irony.
It's not irony. It's people who think it IS just a game (and it is) versus people who take game-based entertainment too seriously. This outrage at this episode is just way overblown .
Its also possible that people wanted different things from this series, which is totally fine and expected. For myself, I wanted to see 3 players honest attempts to play X-Com with all its random things and choices then try to explain that for the next person. I see Dan's style as overriding what I felt like I was initially promised and got with the other episodes.
Theres a lot of people who are not getting what they were wanting or expecting out of it this. If other people are getting what they wanted, then more power to them and they should probably make sure to comment as well so that GB East get a fair image of what the audience thinks of the series.
I'd like to my add my voice to the chorus of discontent with Dan's part in this series. I feel like the series that I was promised, based on three seperate commanders co-cooperatively dealing with the emerging narrative and difficulties inherent to X-Com, has quickly been destroyed and replaced with another in the long line of the "Dans Shenanigans" series. While I can really enjoy Dan's shenanigans I dont want it every time he is in a video.
To put it in a wrestling context, lets say Jeff Jarrett was involved in a tournament for the belt, lost in the first round and decided to use his influence to interrupt the finals and declare himself champion. That could be seen as an interesting heel move but if six months later there was another tournament in which Jarrett was got knocked out in the first round would you be as interested when he interrupted the finals again? I'd be interested in the individual matches for sure but I'd no longer care about the tournament or especially finals because I know that Jarrett is going to meta himself in to being champion and make everything that came before pointless.
At this point it feels like Jarrett has decided to make himself champion over and over again every time he was on screen, in the sense that any time Dan has been asked to 'role play' he just decides to do the same meta-heel shtick rather than let people enjoy the role play aspect.
This is X-Pac heat. This not "Heel Heat", this is go away heat. Not that I want him to quit, just maybe actually just get involved in series he has genuine interest in honestly participating in and not just disrupting? Even as someone who has enjoyed his style for years it can get really frustrating to be promised a specific series and have one of the main players actively not want to produce THAT series, learn the gameplay or even read the text that is actively printed on screen in large font.
Its still super impressive to get the video made and uploaded like this but theres does seem to be some kind of overlay at the top, bottom and a line on the right that shouldn't be there.
If they lay out the direct correlation that this microtransactions store is to pay for people to make actual gameplay content that would otherwise not exist them im pretty cool with it but ive paid about £80 towards Destiny so I dont need them waving another payment method around in game. I dont care if its optional since I paid for the whole game and on the 13th I will not own the whole game anymore.
