Boy, did FF7R get robbed. Especially since it goes far and beyond simply orchestrating the old tracks. The jukebox remixes alone are worthy of discussion in this category. Lowkey the best jazz album to drop last year.

I forgot how much production value went into this game. Every platform is connected to the environment or the background in some way; nothing is just floating in mid-air. Everything moves and reacts to what is going on and stomping around and pulling plugs is constantly reshaping everything around you. It's all so weighty and dynamic and happening all the time.

@kevinski: The litmus test I've always used for "Is this Metal Slug or is this Contra" is if the enemies hurt you by touching you or not.

Fun fact from the land of game development: the 360's "This disc is unreadable" error is actually their generic catch-all for hard crashes. They don't want to tell the player that they hit a game breaking bug, so they blame the disc.
