The morality meters (paragon/renegade) are separate in ME1 and ME2 and don't affect each other. It changed into a single bar in ME3.
The whole min-maxing aspect of it is indeed stupid so it's a good thing there's a very easy glitch on Noveria where you can easily max out either or both bars to make all options available. I think there was one in ME2 too but can't rememeber off the top of my head as ME2 felt more generous with morality points and I didn't really need to glitch it in my recent playthrough.
The face camo is effective when it is applied correctly, which it is not here and not in most movies. The stripes are a movie fabrication. You're supposed to break up the higher/lower parts and patterns of your face with blotches. Dark on the high parts, light on the flat and lower parts.
Boy they really tore this one apart huh. Some deserved, some not. For example the cipher for the letter. They do realise that's mail the Virus received from their boss and prisons can read inmate mail right?
