I think the new format works well. Each to their own of course.
I do think there is some rose colored glasses here. Look at the 2017 GOTY comments and it is negative as fuck. Some of that was about one specific game, but a lot of it was about how overall negative, repetitive, and long those arguments had gotten. The entire reason they switched was to celebrate the games not just tear them apart for strategic purposes.
Maybe bring back the nomination process during the day 1-3 discussion so that some of those details get fleshed out. And I certainly wouldn't mind 2-3 more categories on the final day. I'm sure their exhausted but this was half the length of the other days.
The other holiday videos are an unrelated issue. They did just as much podcasting for GOTY last year AND did way more holidayspecaular (or whatever they called it) vids. The difference was east only spent one week in San Fran this year. I prefer the last few years videos over the individual list videos they did. I'm heartbroken that the tradition of Hitsmas has been lost (and with Hitman 2's expansion maps released this year too). But I'm not going to argue against work life balance. If it didn't work out this year so be it.

Oh hell yeah. What a nice surprise to wake up to on a lazy saturday. Beast crew with some Kerbal. Can't wait....I miss Austin too but Waypoint is cool so its all good. Still Project BEAST 2, if it ever happens, wouldn't be the same without him. I'd still be all for it though.
