Games of Me (WIP)
I think I'll wait until I have some hindsight bias to say whether these are "favorites" or "most influential" or otherwise. For the time being, they are simply GAMES. OF. ME!

How do you feel about necromantic momentum? I never played the core Might & Magic series, so the gaiden is the main plot, to me.
What is an Easter egg? What is a side quest? What is a glitch? Warts and all, it's a miracle this game doesn't play like a power fantasy.
Now imagine if you had, let's say, a magic bell that when rung transported Link between this game and Oracle of Ages.
I managed to do a Ken Combo just once, right before Brawl came out. Never did learn to wave dash, though.
Shapechanging into Deku, Zora, and Gorons delivered on an unconscious pipe dream that every kid playing Ocarina had in common.
Over-engineered? Sure! But when fake evil cyborg Mumbo Jumbo stepped down from that throne, I fell in love. With the game.

When I am 40 or 50 years old and the solutions have finally wandered out of my brain, I look forward to playing The Witness again.
Talk about fantasy booking! Sorry. The Total War: Warhammer of its time, and wonderfully asymmetrical to boot.
Bittersweet memories of dramatic, unprecedented massive-tactics gameplay... and an Outfit that in hindsight were proto-alt-right.
There is no MGS 5, only MGS V. If not for the overcurrent of sexism in this series, this would be an ordered list with an easy #1.
Maximalist design, minimalist narrative. Perhaps Supreme Commander shouldn't have messed with the latter.
A puzzle game. Which is to say, a game which is a puzzle. Paced like a worldbuilding wiki rabbit hole in the best way.
