I don't really understand the complaints about Bastion's 'gameplay' systems - I guess people found the hack & slash to be a little repetitive after a while? Tight controls and weapon variety are the things I remember and I loved every minute of it. Could it be better, especially with a little bit more originality in how the combat or enemies work? Sure but that's not a complaint for Bastion, more of an expectation for Transistor.
If they would only change setting, narrative and story and keep a similar fighting system with some added nuance, that would be fine. What really intrigues me is the female protagonist, I think that's absolutely awesome: especially if you consider all of the self-fulfilling prophecy bullshit other publishers still keep throwing around.
Judging from what the trailer seems to be going for is a little bit more focus on visual storytelling and story in general - I doubt the narrator will come back for this one, although I wouldn't necessarily exclude that possibility. They might have a really cool cyberpunk world and I have every bit of confidence in them that they can fill it with interesting stuff. Really excited.
