I really loved the first Donkey Kong Country (from this point on DKC). I would play it for hours and hours looking for the hidden rooms. After many many hours i found all the rooms and finished the game with 101%. I tried playing the second one but didn't enjoy it as much and then never touched the third. I never owned an N64 so I wasn't able to play Donkey Kong 64 (I believe that was the title), although i heard good things.
 
I was very excited to see a return to DKC on the Wii. From the footage they showed it looked like DKC. I'm excited to see more video of it and hopefully some hands on articles.
