It's really fanastic that Steam is taking such a bold leap into the modding scene with there new Workshop. In an age where Console's seem to rule the roost and PC gaming has really taken a back seat, Steam has been a beacon of hope for PC gamers everywhere. I believe it's safe to say that Valve saw that the sheer amount of mod's for there own games such as CS: Source and Team Fortress, as well as games from other publishers and developers being sold on Steam, really needed a home.

The modding scene for PC games has always been relatively scattered, with many websites offering mods for different games, but Steam's Workshop seeks to make the entire process seamless and simple.

Right now the Workshop only supports Team Fortress 2 and Skyrim, but both games already have over 3,000 mods available for download in the Workshop and the downloading process is as simple as subscribing to a mod you wish to use and the next time you launch your Steam game, the mod is automatically downloaded and updated by Steam. Uninstalling a mod is as simple as unsubscribing from it and the mod will be uninstalled the next time you start your game.

I really hope this Workshop takes off like a bat out of hell and it turns into a sensation beyond anything Valve could have imagined.
