Highly flexible, if a little drab 0

Grim Dawn is one of the most flexible games I’ve ever played. With some hitches here and there, I was able to naturally build towards the character that I had imagined just off of the initial thumbnail. Although the setting maybe isn’t the greatest, and the plot is forgettable, once the cogs of your avatar start fitting together, this game blossoms. It rewards creativity; never once did the idea of looking up “builds” cross my mind, because everything I was doing worked.Y...

Do you feel like a hero yet? 0

Do you feel like a hero yet? It’s pretty awesome seeing a message like that show up in the hint section on a loading screen. Spec Ops: The Line is a very interesting game, playing it four years after its release must skew things a bit. This definitely isn’t a 60 dollar game, especially today. Putting this in your Steam wishlist and waiting for a drop, or finding a heavily discounted copy of it for 360/PS3 and spending your weekend with it definitely pays off. Little else besides it&r...

yo it's pretty good 0

I was only 4 years old when the original StarCraft came out. While I didn't play it right there and then, I watched my brothers go completely ape shit over it. And then when I did get to play it for myself, I understood what they were going nuts about. Blizzard crafted a strategy game at such a level that hadn't been made before; one that struck a competitive balance between the 3 radically different races, a highly in-depth map editor for it's time, and a story and universe that was gen...

Rusty's Far Cry 2 Review 1

When I started up Far Cry 2, I expected to get one of these kinda recently popular open world FPSs. And for the most part, that is absolutely true. This is, by all means, a standard shooter; you'll be shooting dudes in the face, and than talking to some dudes. But what Far Cry 2 did with story and characters, no game I have ever played comes close. At the beginning screen, you get to choose one of 12 playable characters. There are no classes to speak of; these are merely skins. You are then plun...

Rusty's CMR4 review 0

Before I was the shooter loving motherfucker I am today, I played a metric ass-ton of racing games. Most of my racing games were rally racing games, with a side of Need for Speed 4. My favorite racing game to date is Colin McRae Rally 2. I don't know why but I've been on a hunch this past month to play every single Colin McRae Rally game that I missed, and here is the first review in the series. Colin McRae Rally 3 is every bit as fun to play as 2 (even more-so), but it doesn't do so without cu...

A battle you can't win... 0

When Half-Life came out in 1998, it changed the entire First Person Shooter genre. The amazing story telling, lots of great scripted events, and just very fun shooting and puzzle elements made Half-Life stand out from the rest, and carve out a new direction for FPSs. So how does Half-Life hold up with genre expectations in 2009? Great. You control Gordon Freeman, a freshly graduated theoretical physicist. The game begins with a tram session that everyone who has played Half-Life remembers. The t...

Rusty's Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 review. 0

When Call of Duty came out in 2003, it made a lot of things change in the FPS genre, and shooters in general. Large scale firefights and aiming down the iron-sights has become the norm in any shooter developed from anyone who isn't id or Valve. So in 2004 when Brothers in Arms: Road to Hill 30 was coming out, I passed it off as just a World War II game that isn't Call of Duty (I fucking loved Call of Duty). When Steam had a weekend deal a few weekends ago to get all the three Brother in Arms ga...

Chinatown Wars, The Perfect Game? 0

The Grand Theft Auto series hasn't always translated well to the handheld systems. With the lackluster GTA and GTA 2 on the Game Boy Color, and the lukewarm Liberty and Vice City Stories for the PSP, GTA games on handhelds never really hit that epic level that they did on the consoles. With visceral gunfights that are easy and fun to control, a great story, and top notch production values, this is easily my favorite DS game. While Chinatown Wars doesn't really hit the epic level of it's big brot...

Rusty's Call of Duty 4 Review 0

The First Person Shooter genre of games has always been my favorite. Nothing can satisfy you more then running into a room filled with bad dudes, the odds stacked against you, and yet gunning them all down, and standing victorious. Well, maybe sex. The Call of Duty series has always captured that feeling of being a bad ass dude the most. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare is no exception, standing out as my favorite FPS of all time, and my favorite game of 2007.Modern Warfare's single player, while s...

Rusty's Partners in Time Review 0

After 2003's Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga, I didn't really know what to expect from 2005's sequel, Mario & Luigi Partners in Time. I wasn't sure that they could top off my favorite game of 2003, they didn't exactly do that in this sequel, but they did make a really fun and interesting RPG for the DS. The game starts off introducing you to the main bad guys of this game, the Shroobs. The Shroobs are a weird spin off of the Toads. They are small purple beings, with mushroom hats colored pu...

Rusty's San Andreas Review 0

In 2004 we saw the release of 3 major story driven games; Halo 2, Half Life 2, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. While Halo 2 disappointed in the story department, Half Life 2 and GTA had amazing stories that cannot, I stress, CANNOT, be missed by any gamer, quite possibly ever. GTA did not have my favorite story out of the 2, but I have recently went back and finally finished it. The story in GTA is by far the best thing found in the game. Besides it being an incredibly fun game to play, havin...

Rusty's StarCraft Review 0

There are many games out there who have been awarded the, “Greatest Game of All Time,” title, but I don't think any other game deserves it as much as StarCraft. It practically birthed competitive gaming, and took it to the extremes; countries like South Korea have TV channels dedicated to people playing StarCraft. With the release of StarCraft 2 in a few months (hopefully) time, I decided to let you guys know my opinion on this wonderful game. The story is spread out over 3 campaigns, each of wh...
