I think The Witcher 3 is absolute benchmark RPG. The world itself has an attention to detail only rivaled by GTA V, it is entertaining to just inhabit the world. The writing and voice acting is fantastic for the most part. The story, while not ground breaking, is very well told. I played The Wither 2 and 3 back to back, and it was wonderful experience. The biggest criticism that can be leveled at it is that the gameplay does eventually get a bit repetitive, but the world and characters always drew me back in when I was getting bored. I imagine that the large break they took separated them from the story too much and they lost the motivation to keep playing. The GB guys have every right to not finish the game if they feel its not worth it. The best story moments were ahead of Dan and he quit, I do wish he went a bit further and then quit. Obviously, the world didn't draw them in like it did for me.

I'm about 15 hours into the game now. Kreia is very difficult to read. Very mysterious and interesting. She's in a permanently bad mood, and has never said a single positive remark. So bitter. It's remarkable how disjointed and weird the storytelling can feel in this game, yet its so well written. I don't know if she's my favorite character, but she's the one I want to know the most about.

Never played through the original. Always told it was amazing. When I started playing I realized it was just a typical JRPG, repetitive and boring. When people told me it was an amazing game they forgot to mention it aged badly, that's nostalgia. If they modernize, I will play it. If it's just a coat of paint then I skip it.

I much prefer full voice acting. It invests me much more in the stories if I can here the back and forth of a conversation. This will make the world feel that much more alive. Of course, voice acting is just a waste of time if the writing and acting are bad. I have full confidence in Bethesda.

I could care less if the graphics are absolutely leading edge, they look good enough to immerse me. Just make it polished and improve the gameplay and it will be incredible. I'm sure they have worked their asses off for 4 years and won't disappoint.

Knights of the Old republic is great. I'm playing it for the fifth time now. The combat is easy. Unless you absolutely hate star wars, its a safe bet.

Absolutely true. Graphical advancement has slowed. I hope that they use the extra power for non graphical features like the nemesis system from shadow of mordor. Fantastic graphics have their place, but due to diminishing returns, I want to see more complicated gameplay systems instead.

This list are games that would be a 10/10 when I first played them:

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion

Fallout 3

Mass Effect 2

Shadow of the Colossus

Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time

Rome: Total War

Demon's Souls and Dark Souls

Grand Theft Auto IV

Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Red Dead Redemption

Halo 3

The Last of Us

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2

Forza Motorsport 4

The Witcher

Bayonetta

World of Warcraft (Vanilla)

I have greatly enjoyed certain JRPG's, but they are usually too damn long and repetitive and lose my interest. Also, I've really got to get around to playing KOTOR 2.
